Best Photography Locations for Birmingham Alabama Professional Photography Sessions. Meredith Rowlen Photography 205-296-7943
I have been shooting in Birmingham for over 20 years now and I have a lot of great go to locations. I made a post on my website with portraits from most of these listed locations as well. You can see examples here: https://www.meredithrowlen.com/lets-choose-a-location/
Whether you’re planning engagement photos, senior portraits, family sessions, or branding content, Birmingham is full of beautiful and versatile locations that fit every style. Here are some of my favorite local spots:
1. Railroad Park
This downtown gem offers a great mix of modern city skyline views, open green space, and water features. It’s perfect for families, couples, and seniors who want a classic outdoor look with a touch of urban charm. Railroad Park is located right next to Morris Avenue so if you are doing a deluxe session we would have enough time to photograph at both.
2. Morris Avenue
With its cobblestone streets, historic brick buildings, and industrial feel, Morris Avenue is ideal for those who love a little edge and character in their photos. It’s a favorite for engagement and branding sessions. Morris Avenue is located right next to Railroad Park so if you are doing a deluxe session we would have time to photograph at both.

3. Birmingham Botanical Gardens
For a lush, natural setting, you can’t go wrong with the Botanical Gardens. From the rose garden to the Japanese garden, there are so many beautiful corners to explore. There are a lot of nice shaded spots so we don’t have to worry about standing in full sun.

4. Heardmont Park
Located off 119 in the Oak Mountain area Heardmont offers some nice lush natural setting. They have a lot of bridges as well as rocks that make for great backdrops. They also have a creek that is adorable for images of kids playing in the water, if you want to get wet.

5. Aldridge Gardens
This Hoover spot not only offers gorgeous lake views they have beautiful lush natural settings a well. Bridges and benches are all over the gardens and look beautiful in images. Aldridge Gardens requires photographers pay a yearly fee as well as coordinate shooting dates with them. I have been a member with Aldridge for years so if you are interested in shooting here just let me know and we can pick a few dates and reach out to them to schedule.

6. Mt Laurel
Charming shops, colorful bricks, and unique stonework—Mt Laurel is ideal for family sessions, especially if you want your shoot to feel casual, fun, and authentic. You can get the greenery look of the gardens and the urban look from the streets and storefronts at just one location.

7. Your Favorite Spot
Sometimes the best location is one that’s personal to you. Whether it’s your home, your favorite hiking trail, or a cozy cafe where you had your first date, I’m always up for going somewhere meaningful to you.
